Martyrdom
____________________________
“It was six o’clock in the evening when only the ashes of the body were left of the first preacher and martyr of the Scottish Reformation.
His execution had taken about six hours.
On 29th February 1528, the noble martyr for the cause of the Kingdom of God died.”

"When all this is over, you are note going to receive anything more from me than the example of my death and I pray that you never forget. For even though it is harsh for the body and fearful for me, this is really the entrance into eternal life which no one who denies Christ in this evil generation will possess.” Patrick Hamilton
-------
"The Faculty of St Leonard’s, which had been a source of heresy under the administration of Logie, was, after his conversion , an oasis of God, where students calmly drank the ‘water of life’ and revived themselves.”
--------
" Patrick Hamilton’s martyrdom unleashed positive results for the Reformation in Scotland.
Many minds were shaken at the University of St Andrews, particularly at the Faculty of St Leonard’s. Through the efforts of the Rector, Gavin Logie, the novices of the Monastery and the Vice-Abbot, John Winrame, a series of investigations about the superstitions of the Church were initiated.”
-------
“In a short period of time, God by his Spirit, caused many Scots from the universities, as well as the workers in the fields, to question everything that they had previously believed to be true, all because of the heavy tyranny of the Church."
