About the Author

    Joe R. Carvalho was born in the South East of Brazil on 2nd November 1963 in a small village called South Star. Married to Andrea since December 1985, they have two children, Klycia (17) and Diogo (15).

                              

    He loves spending time with his wife and children, and friends, reading, playing the acoustic guitar, fishing and

    also playing golf. . .in that order.

     

     

    Education

    - Primary and Secondary Education (1970-1984)

      Uberlândia respectively, Brazil. 

     

    - Divinity Degree (1988- 1991)

    Seminary of the Presbyterian Church

      of Brazil in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. 

     

    - Specialisation in Intercultural Missions (1997)
       World Mission Board of the Presbyterian Church of 

       Brazil, São Paulo.

     

    - Specific Studies on the New Testament(1996- 1997)
      Andrew Jumper Presbyterian Post-graduate Centre-

      Mackenzie Presbyterian Institute, São Paulo, Brazil.

     

    - Post-graduate on Biblical Interpretation (2001)

    Ministry

      In November 2002 he received the call to be the minister of Cargill-Burrelton & Collace Churches in Perthshire, Scotland (The Church of Scotland) where he loves doing expository preaching and blending traditional and modern style of worship together.

     

    Collace Church is the church of the famous Scottish preacher Andrew Bonar who was the best friend of Robert Murray McCheyne. Bonar was ordained there in 1838 and preached until 1843. 

       Joe has been living in Scotland with his family since March 1998. From 1998 to 2002 he worked on a volunteer basis in two Church of Scotland congregations in Edinburgh and also travelled throughout the country preaching in churches, conferences and evangelistic events in various venues.
